Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett was the only originalist on the Supreme Court who held to her supposed beliefs on Tuesday, joining the court\u2019s liberals and conservative jurists Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts to uphold birthright citizenship in a 6-3 decision.<\/p>\n

Barrett joined in Roberts\u2019 majority opinion, which defended the plain language of the Fourteenth Amendment and over a century of judicial precedent laid down by the high court. MAGA can\u2019t forgive her for walking the walk that she talked about so much during her confirmation hearings, however.<\/p>\n

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh called Barrett a \u201cDEI hire\u201d and a secret liberal in a post to X.<\/p>\n

\u201cTerrible pick,\u201d he wrote. \u201cWhen\u2019s the last time a Republican president didn\u2019t put a liberal justice on the court?\u201d<\/p>\n

Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts called the ruling a \u201cbetrayal of the republic\u201d and accused the court of OK-ing an \u201call-out assault on our sovereignty.\u201d<\/p>\n

Donald Trump adviser and white supremacist Stephen Miller said SCOTUS was pushing the U.S. toward \u201cnational self-obliteration.\u201d The president himself said the decision was \u201ctoo bad for our country\u201d and called on Congress to narrow the scope of birthright citizenship.<\/p>\n

Even prior to the birthright citizenship decision, podcaster Megyn Kelly laid into Barrett for her supposed penchant for siding with the court\u2019s liberals. In the wake of the court\u2019s approval of a Mississippi law allowing late mail-in ballots to be counted, Kelly called Barrett a \u201cturncoat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKagan, Sotomayor, Ketanji Brown Jackson\u2014 I have to admire their commitment to their side. They never abandon their side,\u201d she said. \u201c[Barrett is] constantly siding with the left.\u201d<\/p>\n
